Sunday on our way out of Bloomington, Pam texted me to let me know that they would be in Bloomington this week if we needed any help with anything. I texted her back right away and said that we would be back on Wednesday. We were hoping that they would be free to get dinner. We had visited Pam almost every year at an IU tailgate, but hadn’t seen Drew in a long time. Doug was super excited to hear that they were free on Wednesday night and catch up with his high school friend.
It took us awhile to pack the car today, but we were able to get on the road by 2:30 this afternoon. I texted Pam and we all agreed to meet at Upland brewery at 7:30 tonight. That gave us time to get to Bloomington, unpack at Brett's, and make it to dinner. We were so glad that they were able to meet Pam and Drew tonight. Drew told lots of funny stories about his family, their friend group in high school and life as a Boy Scout leader. Pam filled us in on everything happening in Colorado and what was going on with Kirby and Cora. We let them know what we had been up to since moving to Florida and shared more about Nick since that they hadn’t met him. We spent over two hours talking and laughing together. It was just so wonderful to hang out with friends that we had known forever.
Once we got back to Brett's apartment, I started thinking a lot about tonight. It felt like it wasn't too long ago that Pam, Doug, and I were students at IU talking about our own futures. Who would have ever thought that we’d be back in Bloomington 30 years later watching one of our children get married. How awesome it is to watch life come full circle.
