The Perfect Family Day

Today was an awesome family day. First, Doug and I met Cal and Maggie at Oliver Winery. They had just gotten into town and Cal wanted to show her his favorite parts of Bloomington.  I didn't realize that she had never been visited our beloved city before and agreed that Oliver Winery was the best place to start. Doug, Cal, and Maggie did some wine tasting while the four of us caught up.  It was so much fun listening to what they had been up to and their thoughts on the upcoming weekend. We spent two hours talking and then took a walking tour around the property. Cal told Maggie all about the trips that we used to take when he was a child and how much fun they had at the winery: feeding the fish, playing bocce ball, and throwing the football around. We took their picture at the water fall before they headed to their Airbnb.

While we were with Cal and Maggie, Cameron arrived in Bloomington and picked up his tux. The shirt was a little small, but they were able to remedy that instantly.  Cameron had just enough time to play disc golf before meeting us back at Brett's apartment for dinner.  Meg and Nick also arrived in Bloomington around the same time as Cameron. They said that they would catch up with us later as they had to meet Fr. Reginald tonight and get a few more things done for the wedding.

Cal, Maggie, Cameron, Doug and I met at Nick‘s English Pub for dinner. We had thought about taking Maggie to Buffalouies, but it was absolutely packed. Brett had to attend a Republican party meeting after work, but was able to meet up with us shortly after we arrived at Nick. I hadn't eaten there in a long time and didn't remember how good the food was. Everybody enjoyed their meal, but the best part was talking about all of our shared memories of Bloomington and all of the fun that we had planned over the next few days.

Meg and Nick arrived just as we finished dinner and we spent some time catching up with them.  Everyone was super excited about their wedding and the eight of us talked of nothing else. We split up after taking pictures in Peoples Park. Cal and Maggie left to meet Jayce and Aria.  Meg wanted to be dropped off at Mallory's apartment as the girls had made plans to go to Karaoke tonight.  Nick decided that he wanted to play Germany Ticket to Ride with the four of us and hung out with us for the rest of the night.  While we were at Brett's, I took advantage of the down time to work on Meg‘s gift basket and the reserve signs for the church pews. It was a fantastic night and the perfect way to end an awesome day with our family.
