The three of us spent a lot of time at home last night and today watching soccer. Doug and Cameron have been following the Euro Cup and Copa America since mid June. Last night's games were super exciting, but none of the teams that they were cheering for won. Doug had picked Germany in our family pool but was knocked out by Spain in the first game. That was good news for Cal as his pick advanced to the semi-finals. Meg was the next qualifier when France beat Portugal in the second game of the night. Today's game was more important to Cameron. After watching his least favorite team in the tournament, England advance, he was concerned that his pick, The Netherlands, would go out as well. Thankfully, they held on in a very exciting game to put them into the next round. That will pit Cameron against Nick in the second game of the semi-finals making it another busy week of soccer games for our family.
Soccer wasn't all that we did today. Once the games were over, Cameron, Doug and I headed to Gainesville for dinner at Relish. The food was delicious as always. Afterward, we took Cameron to Swamp Head Brewery. He had never been and loved the atmosphere just as much as we did. It was a little hot on the patio, but we enjoyed it just as much as always. Both Doug and I were glad to share one of our favorite places in Florida with Cameron tonight.
