Life in Chicago

We followed Meg to her apartment in Chicago after Cameron's wedding last night.  Nick was there to meet us with a parking pass and help carry our luggage upstairs.  We absolutely loved their apartment.  It had a lot more space in it than I thought it would from the pictures.  They had it decorated very nicely and it was very organized.  The appliances were new and the refrigerator even beeped at us when it was left ajar.  Overall, we were impressed.

Nick had to work today, so it was just Meg, Doug and I for lunch.  We tried a pub down the street from Meg's apartment that had delicious food.  There were several shops along the way and we stopped at the vinyl store where Meg finally bought Rubber Soul.  We also found a great deal on Diet Coke at the local Jewel and appreciated Doug carrying the majority of it home for everyone.

Meg took us on the bus to Lincoln Park for the afternoon where we walked around the zoo visiting all of the animals.  Meg's favorite was the giraffe.  The only disappointment was that the polar bears were no where to be seen.  We decided to rest once we got back to Meg's apartment.  We had already walked quit a bit and the weather was pretty warm.  It gave us a chance to enjoy Meg's new album.

Nick made it home in time for dinner and we took another long walk to their favorite pizza bar.  Cal and Maggie had introduced it to them.  The food was delicious and we had fun listening to Meg and Nick talk about their life in Chicago.  It reminded me of our first years after collge.

The four of us thought that we took a shortcut back to the apartment, but we were not sure that it saved us any time.  We did, however, see a giant rat cross the street in front of us.  Nick had been complaining about them when he took out the garbage.  I could see why.  We spent the rest of the evening relaxing in front of the television.  Everyone was exhausted, but it was a nice kind of tired filled with a fun day in Chicago.
