Christmas Eve

Our Christmas Eve traditions were altered this year due to the winter storm, Cal's plans with Rachel's family, Brett's schedule at work, and the absence of Godparent gifts.  That was ok with us as we knew that we would have to give them up some day.  We did still make time for baking cookies with Dad and finishing the advent calendar.  We had talked about going to Christmas Eve mass, but Brett was delayed on the road and Doug was uncomfortable going out with the wind chill warning in full effect.

Even with alterations to our plans, we still did have a wonderful day.  We filled it with games, Christmas specials and some delicious meals.  Meg even had time to finish sewing a gift for Millie.  They wouldn't be able to be with Nick's family this year due to Covid illness, but they did make plans to drop off gifts to them and have a Zoom call with the Yoders as well.  Doug and Cameron added a new Christmas Eve tradition - watching the Lions game.  Unfortunately, Detroit just couldn't hold their own against the Panthers.  Brett arrived just before dinner time and Cal and Rachel made it home shortly before 1 a.m.  They concurred with Brett's opinion that the roads were terrible.  I was so incredibly happy that everyone made it home safe and sound.  It would make for a wonderful Christmas morning for all.
