When Meg found out that all of her finals were online this semester, she decided that she would come home a week early. I told her that Doug would be in Ocala that week and we decided to see if it would work for us to join him. Meg double checked with all of her professors to verify that she could take her finals in Florida. Once she got confirmation from them, I booked our flights.
We had hoped that Cameron could join us as he didn't have a lot going on at Bethany this week. He wanted to be there for the last week of the semester anyway. Doug and I did get to watch the first half of the Lions game with him before we left for Indy today. He texted us later from Samuel's to let us know that Detroit won and still had a 20% chance of making the playoffs. We were glad to hear that, especially since we wouldn't have the Bears to watch this year.
Doug and I were thankful for an easy drive to the Indianapolis Airport. Meg arrived just before we did, so we parked near her and the three of us rode the shuttle together to the terminal. Meg had never flown with only carry-ons, so she was happy to find out that she didn't have to check in at the Southwest counter. She suggested Shake Shack for dinner. Neither Doug nor I had eaten at one before and really enjoyed it. We were also happy to see that it was right next to our gate.
Our flight left on time and was a relatively calm one. The only disappointment was that the inflight movie service did not work. Thankfully, the live tv did, so Meg and I could watch the Grinch and A Christmas Story. Doug did not care as he slept the entire flight. That made it a lot easier for him to drive to Ocala once we landed as it was close to midnight before we arrived. I was too excited to sleep. I am definitely looking forward to a week in the sunshine.
