Walking in Memphis

My parents returned home last night from a five day bus trip to Memphis, Tennessee.  We were all very glad to hear that they had enjoyed it, especially Meg and I.  We were the ones who found out about the trip from our neighbors, Roger and Darlene.  They had gone on several of them and highly recommended the local company.  They even had reservations on the same trip.

Thankfully, everything that we heard was correct and my parents had a wonderful time.  On Monday they spent a lot of time on the bus, but enjoyed dinner at a wonderful restaurant with a lot of food including rolls that were hand tossed to each table.  We all loved the video of Grandpa catching a roll for his group.  Tuesday's agenda included a tour of a cotton museum and a historic mansion.  The highlight of the day by far was the Elvis concert where Grandma received a scarf from the King that matched her outfit.  Wednesday was spent touring the historical sites in Memphis including Grandpa's favorite - Stax Records which brought him back to his radio days at WKAM.  That night they had a special evening tour of Graceland.  The pictures of the Christmas decorations in the rooms were beautiful.  We also loved their photos at The Peabody Hotel.  Thursday's trip brought them to the world's largest Bass Pro shop where Grandpa found a fun hat and a large bag of circus peanuts.  On Friday they almost got to see Meg as they stopped briefly at the Culver's in Bloomington.  Unfortunately, the restaurant was not big enough for their large group and they left before she could get there.  Even that disappointment couldn't put a damper on the trip.

Memphis has always been one of the Heinisch family's favorite places to visit, especially Graceland.  We had always wanted to take Grandma and Grandpa there.  Covid ruined those plans.  Therefore, we were all incredibly glad that they were able to go on this wonderful trip.
