Last spring, after the Bethany girls' basketball team finished second in the state, Cameron found out that everyone on the team including the managers would be getting state runner-up rings. He had his finger sized, but we never really heard when they would be receiving them. I thought that maybe something had changed.
Fast forward to this past August when we received a message from their coach, KP, that the entire team would be recognized at the halftime of a basketball game over Christmas break. Once the date was finalized for January 5th, Cameron and I made plans for him to be in Indiana at the end of his holiday break. I was hoping to be there for it as well, but in the fall I wasn't quite sure of our schedule.
Thankfully, it worked out for not only me to be there, but Doug as well. It was such a wonderful ceremony and the rings looked very nice. Cameron definitely enjoyed being a part of it and we loved the reminder of just how supportive the Bethany community was. It was also fun to see so many of Cameron's underclassmen friends, teachers and coaches. I finally got to see the composite picture from the class of 2023, and appreciated those who asked how Cameron was doing at IU. Although none of us were interested in Cameron returning to high school, it was extremely nice to be a part of Bethany again.
