Pepperoni Pinwheels and Shopping

Doug, Cam and I had lunch today at Doug's favorite restaurant, New Holland Brewing Company.  It was our reward for making it to 8 a.m. mass where Cam was an altar server and Doug was a lector.  We thought that maybe it was closed when we first arrived as it was pretty dark inside.   Thankfully we were wrong.  The lunch crowd just hadn't arrived yet.  Doug ordered a few beers to try and I had my favorite orange flavored one.  We didn't even debate what appetizers to get as we all knew that we wanted their famous pepperoni pinwheels.  They were absolutely delicious and soon gone.  Doug and I learned from our summer trip that we wouldn't need much for lunch once we finished the pinwheels.  Thus, an order of soft pretzels was plenty.  Cam tried the pulled pork sandwich and although it was messy, he did enjoy it.

After lunch we walked to two of our favorite stores in Holland, but didn't end up buying anything.  Cam was looking for a gift for Bailee and I had hoped to find a wall clock to replace the one that died a month ago.  Doug did score big at the brewing company's shop buying a gift for someone and beer and bourbon for himself.  We drove to Saugatuck next hoping to find some items on our shopping list.  We were surprised with how little people were walking up and down the streets.  It had been crowded each and every time we had visited before.  We thought that either the weather or the time of year must have scared off the crowds.  We stopped in at all of our favorite stores and found a few items that we liked.  Unfortunately, Kilwin's was closed so we could not bring home any fudge.  I struck out finding a wall clock and Cam decided to hold off on his gift buying.  Even with less shopping accomplished than I had planned, the three of us still had a wonderful afternoon together.
