Overall, it was a fantastic Christmas Eve. I was incredibly happy that the traditions that we started decades ago still resonated strong with the Heinisch children. As I listened to them talk about past Christmas Eves and recalling Father Hire's camel stories at mass, I couldn't help but smile. We have been blessed with a wonderful family and both Doug and I appreciate the fact that we could share this special day with all of them.

Christmas Eve
The Heinisch family Christmas Eve traditions continued again this year. Christmas cookies were made with Dad, children's mass was attended, Godparent gifts were opened and It's a Wonderful Life was watched. Cal even continued his newest tradition of wrapping gifts at the last minute as well. For awhile we weren't sure that Brett would be able to join us at all today, but in the end he was able to finish work by 2:30 and was home by 6:30. We were thankful that he was able to make the trip. Since he hadn't received Godparent gifts in years, Brett brought along his own to open. We all got a kick out of that and were happy to find out that he had finally found a bottle of Dan Aykroyd vodka complete in a skull container. While Brett enjoyed his new "gift", Cal was happy with the money from he received from Dan and the Kroger gift card from Pam. Meg loved her box of goodies from Godmother Jeannette, and Cam opened a Barnes & Noble gift card from Alexia and was thrilled with his I Love IU/I Hate Purdue book from Uncle Phil. Everyone appreciated the Christmas money from Grandpa Heinisch with plans to use it at Disney World.
