A Day for Chess

Cameron played in the Goshen Chess Tournament today.  Last year he was in the reserve section for players ranked under 1200.  He had a fantastic showing then and finished in first place out of forty+ players.  He played just as well today, even though he was moved into the open section for the highest rated players.  Cam was one of the lowest ranked players in that grouping at 1257, but still did very well finishing 8th out of 15.  His two loses came against players rated close to 1900 and another at 1600.  Even in those matches he did not give up lasting an hour and forty minutes in the first and 60+ minutes in the second.  We celebrated his day with dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings.  We all thought that it would be packed, but we were seated right away and had a great view of the professional bowling tournament on the big screen.  My parents met us at our house after we ate for a game of Oh Hell.  Cam was the big winner at that as well making it a great day for him all around.
