Ireland

There's only ever been one place that I have wanted to visit outside of the United States and that is Ireland.  Doug and I have talked about going for years, but haven't been able to make it work.  All of the Heinisch children have heard us talk about traveling to the Emerald Isle, but the only one who seemed to share our interest was Cal.  He even asked about all of us going once he graduated college.  We didn't even get a chance to talk about it as covid changed everyone's travel plans in 2020.

Thankfully, Cal was able to live out his dream this past week as he and eight of his friends spent a week exploring Dublin and its surrounding cities.  They toured the Guinness factory, sampled whiskey at Jameson, explored the countryside where A Quiet Man was filmed, hung out in a pub while Notre Dame played close by and enjoyed some wonderful traditional meals.  I absolutely loved all of the pictures that he sent and was so glad that he took advantage of the adventure.

Cal's last day was spent in Stockholm.  He told me that he would like to return there some day or visit the Scandinavian countries.  He said that the only downfall to the trip was staying in a hostel.  He definitely would stay in a hotel the next time he traveled abroad.  Overall, it was a wonderful trip and I can't wait to see where he travels next.
