After two years of downsizing and a summer of packing, the moving truck arrived early this morning to pick up our possessions. Since we had never used a moving service before, we weren't quite sure what to expect. The truck was a lot bigger than we thought it would be and they definitely took a lot longer to place everything on the truck than we had estimated. The morning started with a tour of each room where we showed the movers what they would be taking on the truck. The semi truck driver then had to write a list of each box, tub or piece of furniture that they were moving and place a yellow sticker on the item. Once he was finished with that, he then had to plan how he would fit everything on the truck taking up the least amount of room possible as he had two other loads to pick up. He explained it as a big game of Tetris and said that delivery would be a lot quicker.
Although it took a lot longer than we anticipated, all three movers were very nice and worked very hard. I felt bad for them as it was by far the hottest day of the year, but they all seemed to take it in stride. Overall, the process was fairly easy and a lot better than moving everything ourselves. The best part for us was that the truck would be in Ocala on Monday August 27th. We were relieved to hear that as we had been concerned that it would either arrive before we did on the 24th or after we left for Cameron Adams' wedding on September 1st.
