Ready for a Break from Football

After five weeks of looking forward to watching IU basketball on Saturdays, I think I'm ready for a break.  The excitement and fun of last year's season just hasn't been there.  Maybe last season was better because there wasn't a lot going on due to the pandemic and football was a welcome relief.  It could also be because our team was a lot better last fall.  The reason might also be because last year we didn't play three top ten teams in the first five games and in all honesty our offense was better.

Any of these could be the reason on why I'm ready for a break, but ultimately I really think it is because the hype just hasn't been the same in the Heinisch family.  We've tried to make it as exciting as last year, but the losses and the fact that Cameron hasn't watched three of the first five games with us has probably lessened my enjoyment of the IU games.

Therefore, I am really glad that next week is a bye week for the Hoosiers.  Waiting all day to watch IU lose or play poorly has taken its toll on my patience for football.  The only saving grace on watching the Hoosiers get overwhelmed by Penn State today was the fact that Notre Dame and Purdue lost earlier this afternoon as well.  Hopefully, IU football rebounds, but if they don't at least we will have two weeks to regroup and plan another fun tailgate meal as we will be able to attend the next two games in person.  Win, lose or draw that always makes the experience more fun.
