Our next stop was the Saugatuck Dunes State Park. We walked a 3/4 mile trail through the woods to the dunes. It was hilly, but it wasn't as tough as I remembered. The sand was hot to start, but we enjoyed it once we were able to walk along the beach. Cam and I spent some time throwing the frisbee before we headed back. The return trip was a little more challenging as there were several big hills in the sand and in the woods. We made it without incident, however, and rested in the Pilot on the way to our final stop - Downtown Saugatuck.
Out of all of the places in Michigan, Saugatuck, has always been my favorite. It was no different today. Unlike Holland, all of the stores were open and packed with customers. We each did a little shopping, but didn't spend very much. I found a drying cloth for my counter and Meg got a shirt. While we were out walking, we noticed that there were a lot more restaurants than the last time we were there. That looked great to us as we always thought that was the only thing missing in our favorite Michigan stop. Before we left, we had one last stop - Kilwin's for fudge, It was a wonderful snack for our trip home.
