Packing

Meg started packing for college this afternoon.  Thankfully, IU gave her a detailed list of what she would need, what she might want, and what she could not take.  Between that and knowing what Brett and Cal took their freshmen years, it really wasn't as daunting as she thought it would be.  The hardest part was sorting through her room and finding space for everything.  We finally moved a lot of the items downstairs, knowing that it would take up the dining room area.  Since it would be moved out soon, I didn't panic about the mess like I normally would have.

With Nick already at Purdue and Meg starting the process of moving to IU, she and I have definitely been talking a lot about college.  She's excited and nervous.  She will know a lot of people already, but is anxious about the thought of making new friends.  She's heard mixed reviews about having a single, but overall I believe it will be the best for her.  Meg still has difficulty with headaches, so having her own room will allow her time to rest if she needs it.  It will also give her a quiet place to study.  Meg is outgoing and has already survived changing schools as a junior and being a camp counselor.  We know that she will do well in her transition to IU, just as she did in those situations.  The first week might be a little overwhelming, but after that I believe she will feel right at home.
