Silent Night Game

Tonight was Cam's last middle school game ever and it was the best one of the season.  It was the annual Silent Night game where the students wore pajamas and were silent until the first five points were scored for Bethany.  Everyone then erupted into cheers and chants for the rest of the evening.  At the beginning of the game, the starting five were introduced under spotlight.  Five eighth graders were chosen to start and Cam was one of him.  It was fun to watch and Doug told him later that his handshake with Tyson was so long that they almost called a delay of game =)

Cam played almost the entire game and for the first time ever, almost fouled out.  It was definitely his highest rebounding game of the year.  My parents, Doug, Brett and I enjoyed watching the game and the crowd.  The highlight of the cheering section was the two sixth graders dressed as Bruin Bears.  The costumes looked older than either Doug or I, but the student section had fun with the mascots.  Their cheering worked as Bethany easily defeated Stanley Clark by ten points.

At the end of the game Mr. Miller read the Nativity Story.  He encouraged the students to cheer just as they would at a basketball game when the heroes names were read and to boo when appropriate.  It was the loudest reading of the birth of Jesus that I had ever hear and the most fun one as well.  When it was over, we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings to celebrate a great season.  Brett found it was funny that the one game he chose to watch was also the loudest.  He was happy that he had brought his earplugs.  He had definitely earned his dinner tonight as had Cam.
