Tonight Meg came home with her Academic All-State Honorable Mention certificate that she earned in soccer. We knew that she would be receiving an award and were completely impressed with the honor. She had worked hard academically in high school and had retained her 4.0 even with transferring schools. Doug and I have placed a high importance on academics and education to the Heinisch children. We were proud that she was rewarded for her effort.
Meg was most excited, however, with her play in tonight's varsity basketball game against Lakeland Christian Academy. In the previous games this season Meg had struggled with controlling her nerves. This was affecting her play on the court. She talked to KP about it and they came up with a plan to help her overcome the issue and tonight it worked well for her. She played the majority of the second half, and although she started off with a trip that caused a foul, the rest of her game was fantastic. She ended the evening with two assists, one field goal, a steal and several deflections.
Cam had a great night as well. First he played his oboe in the Christmas program at Bethany. The band performed well and it was fun to watch him play. He had kept track of the IU and Penn State game before and after the concert. Thankfully, he made it home in time to see the Hoosiers win a tight one on the road. Cal texted this afternoon to let us know that they had finished their case for I-Core. He was very happy to be done with it. Brett also checked in thrilled to report that his GPA this semester would be higher than the previous two. He was very pleased with that. Overall, all of the Heinisch children went to bed happy tonight. That made for a great night for all.
