Christmas Eve

It was a cold Christmas Eve, but no snow.  Although it was well below 32 degrees, those wishing for a white Christmas had no luck today - just more wind.  The weather didn't effect our plans, however.  We enjoyed baking cookies, playing games, and going to Christmas Eve mass without any issues.  The only cold part of the day for us was the walk that Brett and I took mid-afternoon.

We all had a wonderful afternoon together.  Mass left us laughing as Brett led us into the wrong pew after communion.  Doug started lasagna right after church.  Our typical Christmas Eve dinner had been sausage, cheese and crackers.  Cal decided this week that our usual menu did not constitute a meal and talked Doug into something different.  Doug didn't mind as lasagna had always been one of his favorites.  While dinner was in the oven the Heinisch children opened their Godparents' gifts and the ones from Grandpa Heinisch.  Everyone was pleased with their presents, especially the new Google Home Minis, except for Cam who already had one.  He instead had a new chameleon robot to build which he was happy about.

After gifts and dinner we headed downstairs to play pool.  Cam once again beat everyone, keeping his winning streak alive.  The night ended the movie "It's a Wonderful Life", a Heinisch favorite.  It was the perfect way to end a traditional Heinisch family Christmas Eve.
