Swamp Head Brewery

Several months ago, Doug and I planned a trip to Gainesville to check out the botanical garden and the Tom Petty Festival.  Doug had read about Swamp Head Brewery before we left and thought that it might be a good spot to try as well.  We weren't quite sure driving back to it as it seemed to be in the middle of an industrial area.  Once we arrived, however, we both instantly loved the place.  It was secluded with outdoor seating and a "swamp" in the back.  Doug really wanted to come back at some point.

Tonight, we didn't have anything planned and the weather was supposed to be beautiful, so I suggested to Doug that we head back up to Gainesville.  He would get to enjoy the brewery, and as an added bonus, we would be able to go to dinner at Relish as well.  We called Phil to see if he wanted to join us as he was a fan of trying new breweries and specialty hamburgers.  He was all in for a night out in Gainesville.

We picked Phil up at 4 tonight as Doug was able to get off of work early.  I found us a table out on the deck while Doug and Phil picked out a few beers to try.  It was a wonderful afternoon to sit outside and enjoy the view.  The guys really enjoyed the beers that they tried and I got a kick out of the parents trying to keep their children out of the pond.  That definitely brought back a lot of memories of our family trips to Oliver Winery.  Phil liked the new spot a lot and Doug had so much fun that he bought a shirt on our way out.

Dinner at Relish was very good.  Doug and Phil each ordered a hamburger and fries while I got my new usual - a turkey burger.  The sun had started to set, so it was a little bit cooler outside.  Even though, their patio was the perfect place for dinner.  We decided on our next visit to Gainesville, we would have dinner at Spurriers as I had never been there.  It wasn't a late night as we were back in Ocala by 7 p.m., but it definitely was a fun one.
