The weather was absolutely gorgeous today and we took full advantage of it. While Cameron walked to the game with his friends to enjoy seats on the floor, Doug, Brett and I spent our time at Oliver Winery. They each tried a flight featuring the new raspberry espresso wine as well as several of their favorites. It was nice to sit outside and talk with them about politics, books and the church. Brett also opened his Valentine's gift from us, a Sam the Eagle Hawaiian shirt for our trip to Disney in March.
The basketball game was super disappointing as IU lost to Penn State leaving our hopes for an NCAA birth completely shattered. Cameron still enjoyed it as those were the best seats that he had ever had for a basketball game. We picked him up on the way to Kirkwood. It was packed with Hoosier fans. We laughed as we had to be the only school that celebrated a loss. We did some shopping first. Brett bought a pair of IU socks and Cameron found a vinyl that he had wanted. I did a lot of window shopping. We walked to Big Woods next where Cameron tried the Malik Renu burger. He said that it was really good. We all liked our dishes as well. Before we headed back to Brett's, we stopped at Insomnia cookie for tonight's dessert to celebrate Cameron's belated birthday.
Since we couldn't be with Cameron on January 21st, I offered to send him his birthday gifts. He wanted to open them with us and I was very glad that he did. Tonight, Cameron was extremely happy to unwrap Grandpa Joe's candy, a pair of brown corduroys, Red Hot Chili Pepper's Californication on vinyl and War by U2 on vinyl. Cameron was surprised by all, especially the last one as it was vintage from the 1980s. The rest of the evening was spent playing games, watching Seinfeld and eating our cookies. They were very good, but Crumbl Cookie from last night was probably the overall favorite. It was a low key birthday celebration for sure, but a lot of fun nonetheless.
