For the first time in seventeen months we were able to watch the Bethany band in person this evening. We appreciated all of the zoom and video programs that they had had during the pandemic, but it was definitely better to see them live. Covid restrictions were still in place as the performance was held in the gym with chairs set up in pods so that each student could invite six individuals to watch them play. Masks were worn by everyone and the gym was emptied after each group finished to allow for social distancing.
Cameron didn't play until after the orchestra and choir, so it was well after 7:30 before he started. By chance we were seated in the perfect area to see Cameron play throughout the performance. I really appreciated that, but overall was happy just to hear them play. The band started with the Theme song to the Mandalorian and finished with a medley of Beatles tunes including two of my favorites, Here Comes the Sun and In My Life. Everything sounded fantastic. After we caught up with Cameron before he headed to Culver's with Sam, all I kept thinking about was how wonderful it was to be back at Bethany supporting our favorite oboe player.
