The Caston Invitational

Today was Cameron's first official tournament of his high school career.  It was played at Pond View Golf Club in Star City, Indiana.  In all our years of traveling to golf matches and tournaments we had finally found a course that we had never been to or even heard of before.  Even my Dad hadn't been there before.  It was a long drive, about an hour and a half from Syracuse.  It almost felt like it was in the middle of a few cow pastures.  The course was definitely interesting.  It reminded us of  Cascades in Bloomington  only with a lot tighter fairways.  There were quite a few trees on each hole, a few water hazards and some areas of bare grass.

Much like a lot of high school tournaments there were some ups and downs.  Cameron started off on fire with three straight pars.  We were impressed as they were some challenging holes.  He then pulled his drive on the fourth hole leading to a frustrating double par.  He parred the next hole and I had hoped that he would rebound and still shoot in the mid 80s.  He definitely tried, but several nice looking approach shots that hit the middle of the green sailed off of it creating a double bogey situation for Cam.  In the end Cameron scored higher than he would have liked, but still finished 7th overall out of 43 players.  His team did well finishing 4th out of nine.  No matter his score, we all enjoyed following him today and as an added bonus I got my 10,000 steps.
