Not Much Fun

Meg had another match tonight, this time at Mishawaka Marian.  We knew that it would be a tough one for her as the girl at number one singles was a formidable opponent with a hard hitting serve and extremely accurate shots.  What we didn't expect was the rudeness and inconsideration that her challenger would bring with her to the court.  She actually cried when Meg won the third game of the first set.  She pouted, hit the ball back to Meg aggressively when it was Meg's turn to serve and scowled at every lost point.  Despite of the poor behavior on the opposite side of the court, Meg played her best and had some nice points.  She didn't let any of this ruin her evening.  When a ball well inside the backline was called out, Meg thought about challenging the call.  Being down 4-0 in the second set, she realized that the best approach was to just play out the game to the best of her ability and hold her head high.  We were just as proud of her tonight in a loss as we were last night in victory.  Meg demonstrated true sportsmanship.  We couldn't have asked for much more.
