Last night around 8 p.m. my front doorbell rang. I was surprised, but assumed that it was probably my neighbor Josh. He had been over last night raking up the leaves in our front yard with his mower. I was absolutely surprised when instead I saw a young man standing on our sidewalk with an iPad. Since he had seen me, I went ahead and opened the door. He instantly started trying to sell me something. I pointed to our no soliciting sign on the window. He apologized and said that he had already rang the doorbell before he read it. I told him that I wasn't interested in purchasing anything and that I thought it was pretty late and way too dark to be selling anything door to door. He left and I watched him pull out of our driveway. As soon as he was gone, I made sure that every door in the house was locked and then waiting anxiously for Cameron to come home. Doug, Meg and Brett all said that it would be fine, but it did scare me. Thankfully, no one knew that I was home alone, but that didn't really make me feel any better.
I told Cameron about the incident as soon as he got home. He thought that was very strange as well. We agreed to put the piano bench up against the front door and a couple of chairs by each of the other doors. It wouldn't stop an intruder, but at least they might fall over when the door opened and scare someone off. It really didn't matter anyway as it made us feel better which was the most important part.
I stayed up until after midnight last night. Doug was driving home and needed me to book him a room on the Hilton app. He had hoped to stay in Whitehouse, Tennessee, but all of the rooms were booked. I did find him something north of Nashville in his price range with good reviews. He was thankful to be out of the car for awhile and would only have a six hour drive home today. After he got situated in his room I tried to go to sleep, but was still a little worried about our doorbell ringer. I finally fell asleep close to 1 a.m. but was awakened at 1:53 by a loud knocking on the front door. I jumped up out of bed to check, but there was no one there. The knocking had ended as soon as I woke up. I also noticed that the rest of the doors were secured as well. That's when I remembered all of the other times that I had been awakened by a loud knocking noise. It had been several years since I had had the knocking dream. Guess it made sense that it returned last night. Thankfully, I did fall back to sleep pretty quickly. Hopefully, that's the end of it.
