Soccer Saturday

There was a lot of Heinisch soccer on the agenda today.  Meg had a game at Bethany against Northwood at noon and Cameron had a tournament at Lakeland Christian Academy that started at 9 a.m.  Both teams did well.  The girls trailed Northwood 1-0 for the majority of the game, but had a chance to tie it with twenty seconds left when the Panthers were called for a handball in the box.  Their goalie made a fantastic stop on the penalty kick, however, and Bethany found themselves on the losing side of a tough game.  Even with the loss there was a moral victory today as last year Northwood came out on top 4-0.

Cameron's team lost their first game to Westview's B team.  They were disappointed as they felt they should have won.  They went on to win the next two games by three goals a piece.  That coupled with a Westview loss put Bethany in the championship game.  It was the toughest one of the day, but the Bruins played hard.  Westview's A team ended up winning 3-1, but the boys were happy with their second place finish.  That equaled their results from last year.

Before I even got home from the games I decided that I was going to take a nap.  It was a busy week and I wanted to rest before we went to dinner.  Cam and Doug, however, decided to use the time left in the afternoon to play nine holes.  When the guys got back we headed to Buffalo Wild Wings.  My parents stopped by later in the night to fill us in on the Nappanee Alumni Banquet.  Meg was at a team party at Jackie's, so we did not see her once her game ended.  She did check in several times to let us know that she was thoroughly enjoying her evening.  It was a fun night for all after the first full week of soccer.
