Earlier in the week KP asked Meg if she'd be willing to host a team bonding even at our home in celebration of the end of team camp. Meg was excited to have everyone over and agreed immediately. Thus, today at 4:30 about a dozen high school girls and their coach arrived right after practice. The team spent their time before dinner playing corn hole and competing at Just Dance. It was fun to listen to their laughter. Once Doug got home he baked macaroni and cheese plus grilled hamburgers and hotdogs for them. Although there were plenty of desserts here, Meg and Grace wanted everyone to try Joe's, so after dinner they headed that way. Ice cream reviews were positive upon their return and they spent the rest of the evening in the basement playing Head Bands, ping pong and pool.
KP appreciated us opening our home to the team and we were glad to do so. Just a short year ago we put Meg on a bus to Vincennes with a group that she did not know. It was a challenging week for her. She felt rusty at basketball and out of place with the girls. So much has changed for her in that time period. Her basketball skills have returned, but more importantly Meg has made friendships that will last a lifetime. She feels supported and an important part of the Bethany community. It was awesome to be a part of that this evening.
