We arrived back in Bloomington yesterday afternoon. It was a fun day for Doug and I as we stopped at Portillo's for lunch and then went to Oliver Winery so that Doug could use his free wine tastings for the month. Once we unpacked at Brett's apartment, Doug and I headed to Metal Works Brewing Company. We had only been there once before and Doug wanted to try it again. Cameron walked from his apartment to meet us and we all enjoyed our dinner there. Cameron talked about studying for midterms, the possibility of minoring in music and the fun he had been having with Student Athletic Board.
Cameron went to Bible study that night and we met Brett back at his apartment. He really wanted a haircut and I knew that it was the best evening to give him one. It took more time than usual as his hair was pretty long, but in the end, he looked great and it will have time to grow out a little bit before his engagement pictures on October 12th. Cameron called as soon as I finished. Doug picked him up and got breadsticks for everyone. We spent the rest of the night playing Ticket to Ride Germany. Cameron and I finished 0-3 on the week, but still had a lot of fun. The boys also tried the "Monster Mash" fruit snacks that I found at Kroger. Definitely not as good as the Boo Berry, Frankenberry and Count Chocola cereals.
Doug and Brett had to work all of today. It was the perfect day to work inside as the weather in Bloomington was windy and rainy. Cameron had class and had to study, so he only had time for lunch. We picked him up on our way to Buffalouies. We had a nice meal together, but Cameron did let us know that he and Alina had broken up for good. Long distance just wasn't working for either of them. He was sad, but said that he would be ok. I was sorry to hear it as we really liked Alina, but they were pretty young to live that far apart for that many years.
Brett and Karen arrived at his apartment at 7 p.m. tonight. Driving in the wind and rain was definitely not very much fun, and we were glad that they made it safely. Brett picked Bucceto's for dinner as Karen had never been. I was glad as driving across town during family weekend would have been a mess and Doug had already been that way to pick up Cameron earlier. I found out that Bucceto's had vegan cheese, so I tried that in my calzone. It was very good and I didn't have to worry about eating dairy. The five of us ended the evening playing Exploding Kittens and Loud Librarian. It was a lot of fun and a great way to spend a rainy night.
