A Beautiful Day in the Windy City

It was absolutely gorgeous in Chicago today and we took full advantage of the sunshine.   Doug, Nick and I went to RJ Grunts for lunch, where the guys tried their world famous sandwiches and I ate a bowl of chili.  It was one of our favorite restaurants when Doug lived in Chicago and it was fun sharing that with Nick.  Afterward, we walked to Lincoln Park and spent the next hour in the zoo.  There weren't a lot of animals out and about, but we were able to see the giraffes, zebras, flamingo and gorillas.  Meg had to work today, but was able to join us for a shopping trip to Kohl's after the zoo.  She was thankful to take a break from her computer and Doug found the shirt and shoes that he needed.  Doug, Meg and I took a walk once we got back to her apartment, appreciating the last little bit of sunshine.

Cal arrived from work just after we got back.  We were all glad to see him.  After catching up, he suggested Goose Island Brewing Company for dinner.  Unfortunately,  it had closed.  His next suggestion was a Mexican restaurant in Lakeview just north of Wrigleyville.  We had no problem getting in and loved the margaritas that they recommended.  The food was nice as well, but the best part was the atmosphere.  The restaurant was named after Doug's two favorite characters in The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, "Tuco and Blondie."

After dinner, we all hung out at Meg's for awhile talking.  She shared her new "It's a Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" vinyl.  The music was great and the pumpkin shape of the vinyl was super cute.  The only bad part of the night was that it had to end.  It was definitely one my favorites of the week and I was very  glad that we were able to spend so much time in Chicago on this trip.
