While we were playing cards on Wednesday night at my parents, we turned on the IU Men's Soccer game. They were playing Michigan in Bloomington in the semi-final of the Big Ten Championship tournament. It dawned on me as they panned the crowd that Cameron was at the game and that we might be able to see him on television. I texted him right away and we soon found out exactly where he was along the fence line.
From that moment on, we were glued to the television. We knew that Cameron was wearing a scarf and was close to Michigan's goal. The game was an exciting one with the Hoosiers leading the Wolverines 3-1 at half. Michigan didn't give up, however, and soon after the second half started, tied the game at 3's. It remained intense until the very end with the Hoosiers finally holding on to win 4-3. The best part was that we saw Cameron clear as a day on an IU throw in, late in the game. We couldn't believe that Grandpa spotted him and loved watching him be a part of the action.
Today was the final of the Big Ten Championship, with IU playing Penn State. I called Cameron before he left for the game to find out what he was wearing. Once he got there, he texted us exactly where he was on the fence line and we easily spotted him this time. There was only one close up of him and his friends, but that was ok with us. The game was so exciting with IU winning 1-0 that we didn't mind. My mom even watched from home and we all stayed tuned long after it was over to see all of the students jump the fence to celebrate with the team.
Soccer wasn't the only Hoosier sporting event that Cameron attended this weekend. He also went to a volleyball game and a wrestling match. He could have gone to the IU Women's Basketball game as well, but he went to Bible study instead, which I was glad to hear. Tonight, he had tickets to the IU Men's Basketball game against Army. It was his first game as a student and he had a lot of fun. The team didn't look the best, but they did end up winning. It was so much fun to listen to him talk about his weekend with IU Athletics. I was very happy that he was taking full advantage of all that IU had to offer.
