It was really nice having Cal home this past week. We got to spend quite a bit of time with him and besides the rainstorm that cancelled his golf plans with Cameron and Grandpa Cutes on Wednesday night, he got to do everything that he wanted to while he was home. As an added surprise for him, Hannah Marie decided to come home this weekend as well. She had been staying in Key West for the summer working as intern with an oceanology team protecting the coral in that area and didn't think that she'd be able to make it back for the holiday weekend. Thus, her family got to see her and Cal got to spend quite a bit of time with her on the lake.
For the first time ever, Cal also participated in the annual Lake Wawasee flotilla. Robyn and Mike had been instrumental in helping build the boat these past few years and were glad to have him aboard for this summer's event. The theme this year was the 60's. Mom, Dad and I were able to watch the boat parade at Oakwood. We were all impressed with the detail of their float - The Yellow Submarine. There were some other nice ones. I did like the Mystery Machine complete with Scooby Doo and Gilligan's Island was a nice idea. The Beatles tribute that Cal was waving from, however, was by far the best one on the lake Saturday morning. The judges must have agreed with me as they not only won the Commodore award, but the people's choice as well.
Cal left this afternoon a little later than he had planned. Hannah Marie's flight to the Keys was cancelled due to the Hurricane off the coast in Florida. Since she was staying one more day, he decided to leave at 5:15 instead of 1:30. It was nice to get some extra time with him and I know that he enjoyed some bonus time on the lake.
