Today ended Cameron's first experience with the age group championship at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth. Overall, he was very pleased with the two day event. They played the black course which was rumored to be the hardest eighteen in Northern Indiana. Cameron told us before he started that he was nervous and hoped to break ninety. Thankfully, he did just that on the the first day with a 45 on the front and a 40 on the back. He was a little disappointed with his scores on the par fives as he finished the day 8 over on just those four holes. Number 4 and 5 were extremely challenging with tight fairways, water hazards and out of bounds. His putting definitely was spot on Thursday as he completed the round with only 28 putts.
Cameron's round today ended with the exact same score, although it looked a little different. He started on the back, which was easier than the front, but harder to score on with all of the heavy dew. His driver strayed a little bit, but overall he played and putted well finishing the nine with a 43. The front nine was definitely more difficult, but he scored better than yesterday especially on number four as he finished with a par instead of a snowman. Number five was still the worst hole of the day once again. Thankfully, he was able to get up and down from a challenging spot to finish the hole. The eighty-five he shot today was good enough for him to finish in 29th place out of 38 boys in his age group. Cameron was extremely pleased with his performance. He also had fun with the golfers that he was matched with these past few days. He came home today with a new shirt, a new hat and a lot of stories to tell.
