Touring Hemingway's Key West

Today while Doug was playing golf with Cameron, Cal and Hannah Marie were texting me about their adventures in Key West.  Before Cal left I had told him about Ernest Hemingway's home in Key West and the bar, Sloppy Joe's, that he frequented nearby.  I wasn't sure if they had time to visit either one, but thought he might want to check them out if they did as Cal was a big fan of the author.

I was thrilled to hear that they made it to the writer's home this afternoon.  Cal and HM loved all of the history surrounding it, especially the 60 six toed cats that were direct descendants of Hemingway's cats.  The pictures they sent were fantastic and I appreciated getting all of the information that they learned from the home.  Cal also told me that they were able to go to Sloppy Joe's last night and really enjoyed it as well.

As I was looking through all of their pictures today, a memory on my phone popped up.  Three years ago today, Doug and I were touring Hemingway's Michigan.  I couldn't believe that Cal and HM were doing the exact same thing three years later in Hemingway's Key West.  It definitely was a proud parent moment knowing that I had passed on my love of Hemingway's lifestyle to Cal, especially since I read all of his Nick Adams stories and several biographies about Ernest Hemingway when I was pregnant with Cal.  The best part of having adult children is watching life come full circle.  Today was a perfect example of that.
