A Fun Saturday for All in the Heinisch Home

Cameron was invited to play in the Elkhart County Chess Championship today.  We were proud to find out that he was the rated third in the county.  Since he was going to be busy with his tournament, Doug and I made plans to spend the day together.  Doug had been incredibly busy these past few months with work travel, county council activities, church meetings and year end commitments.  It was nice to have a day to just hang out and enjoy each others' company.  We were going to go to South Bend, but decided on staying closer to home and try a few of the different microbreweries in the Elkhart/Goshen area.  The first one had a name that I couldn't pronounce or spell, but it definitely was our favorite.  We also tried The Vine and Goshen Brewing Company.  They were both good, just not as great as the first one.  We picked Cameron up on the way back home.  He had finished fourth overall and was pleased with his day except for one match where he felt he made a mistake and then compounded it by losing focus and making a bigger one.  No matter the outcome, we were proud of his play and were glad that he had returned to the chess board lately.

Since we were all busy, Cal invited my parents to go to Four Winds Casino with him.  He had come home for the weekend after he took HM out for dinner in Indy last night for Valentine's Day.  The three of them had a great time playing the slots and eating lunch at the buffet.  No one won big, but they did pretty well overall with just a few minor loses.  Tonight we all watched the three point and dunk contest as it was the NBA all star weekend.  Joey had come home with Cam after chess and hung out here for the night as well.  It was a fun evening for all.
