Today was Brett's 27th birthday. He spent it in a typical Sunday fashion - mass in the early morning hours, a day at work, dinner at home and writing a few chapters in his new book. It was definitely low key, but he had had an extremely busy weekend and was glad for the quiet day. He enjoyed reflecting on his past year and all of the positives in his life. He received numerous texts and messages on social media. I talked to him several times during the day and he was extremely happy that he was able to say that he had officially taken his 27th trip around the sun.
Brett did find it funny that the Super Bowl was the big event on his birthday. He hadn't watched that particular sporting event since the Patriots beat his favored Panthers many years ago. It was nice to celebrate Brett today virtually. It was a great reminder of just how much he has accomplished in his young life. He's not only found success at his place of employment, but has also acquired a great group of friends that have been extremely supportive of him. My favorite part of being Brett's mom has always been his positive attitude and commitment to faith. I was reminded of that today with the return of his positive post and desire to go to mass on his birthday. Brett will be home soon so that we can celebrate in person. I have really been looking forward to that.
