Today was a low key Valentine's Day for Doug and I. We really hadn't made much out of the holidays in years, but we still enjoyed it just the same. Doug gave me a box of chocolates with a very nice card. I gave him a few items that he needed as well as his favorite Ghirardelli chocolates and the movie Rio Bravo. Since we had eaten out every day since I arrived in Florida on Friday, we decided to stay in for dinner and finish off all of the delicious leftovers. We also finished watching The Quiet Man from Saturday night. I had actually made it all of the way through, but Doug fell asleep. It was the perfect movie for the holiday. We did start Rio Bravo, but will have to finish it another time as we were both too tired to stay up late.
Brett and Cal also had a low key Valentine's Day. Brett worked and then enjoyed dinner at home. He had a book that he wanted to finish and made a good dent in it. Cal texted that he was going to work out and then finish some work for Plante Moran. The dating world has been rough on both of them lately. Hopefully, they were glad to have a night off from that. Cameron had fun at school today. He bought a rose from SGA for one of the students from Paraguay. He also got a box of chocolates for himself. He put them in his locker and acted like they were from a secret admirer. He did finally come clean, but only after he had everyone going for awhile guessing who the girl was.
Meg had the biggest Valentine's celebration as she and Nick spent Saturday and Sunday in Chicago. They stayed at the Palmer House and really like it. It was just as beautiful as I told her it would be. The only bad part was the paper thin walls which I remembered from Doug and my stay there years ago. They also ate dinner at Maggiano's and went ice skating in Daly Park. It was cold, but they had a great time. Tonight she invited her friend, Maddie, over to watch "Hope Floats". It was the perfect movie for "Galentine's."
