We spent a good portion of the afternoon attending open houses. The first was at Gabrielle's. Paula had decorated everything nicely and had plenty of delicious dishes to try from around the world. It was very nice to see so many of my former coworkers as well as the Fiscus women. I was filled in on all of the changes coming to Milford school due to dwindling student enrollment. The biggest surprise was Paula's announcement that she would be teaching English at the high school next year. She was excited about it. I also found out that the high school principal was leaving for a better paying position outside of the education world. That's the third principal to leave Wawasee in less than six years.
Our second open house was in our neighborhood. We walked over to Graham's and visited with him, his family and several others that we knew from our involvement in the community over the years. Graham plans to attend Purdue, but a lot of his friends have chosen IU. I have mixed feelings about that. Once we walked back, Cam and Doug headed to the golf course. They wanted to get in nine holes before it rained. Meg and Nick attended the same two open houses that we did and added in one more as well when they went to Evan Brown's in Bristol. It was Hawaiian themed as their family will be going to the islands for his graduation present. It sounded like a lot of fun.
