Regrouping

Cal texted over the weekend to see if he could come home for a few days.  He just wanted to talk to Doug and I, regroup and hopefully rejuvenate.  Busy season had been long.  He and Rachel had decided to take a break.  Although his roof was fixed, the hole in his ceiling was not.  He just really wanted a break and we were more than happy to provide that for him.

While Cal was here, we had some great conversations about life, work and relationships.  In the end, he was able to come up with a plan to get through some challenging things going on in his life right now and felt a lot better than when he arrived.  There were a lot of other positives about Cal being home.  Doug cooked his favorite dinner, homemade macaroni and cheese.  Grandma and Grandpa visited several times, and we all watched the IU game together as well.

Cal left this evening ready to go back to his routine in the Windy City.  I had enjoyed having him here, even if it was for just a short time.  We will have to figure out next year how to accommodate his schedule and get him to the Sunshine State for a few times in the winter.  It would be a great escape from the Chicago weather and a wonderful visit for us.
