After years of suffering under the regime of Archie Miller, it was so much fun to watch the IU men's basketball team coached by former Hoosier great, Mike Woodson, play this season. There were ups and downs along the way and the typical frustrations of being a basketball fan, but overall it was so incredibly nice to support a team that actually won more games than lost, played well in the Big Ten Tourney, was seeded relatively high in the NCAA March Madness tournament and had a legitimate All American on the team.
The best part of it all was how it brought our family together. Games days were filled with group texts of "Kopp for 3" or "Take Bates Out!" Even Brett and Meg joined in the action, following the team somewhat, understanding all of the inside jokes and even making a few of their own. All of that came crashing down tonight when IU lost to Miami. Not only were they out of the tournament, it really wasn't much of a game to watch as the Hurricanes led for most of the night. It was sad realizing that our entertainment was over for the season. It was even harder to take knowing that we were saying goodbye to one of our all time favorites, Trayce Jackson-Davis. This one will definitely sting for a few days, but at least the pride in being a Hoosier fan was back.
