Winter Storm Warning in March?

We had had such a beautiful day on Wednesday with temperatures in the 60s.  Everyone was out and about enjoying the sunshine and hoping for an early spring.  I realized like most that it was just wishful thinking.  I could only remember a few times where March came in like a lamb and stayed that way.  Nevertheless, I hadn't really thought much about the forecast for the rest of the week until Cal texted me about his roof.  I decided to look ahead and see when our next chance of rain was, so he could be prepared.  I was absolutely surprised when I saw that the Weather Channel was predicting a severe winter storm for today with snow totals in the double digits for some areas.  That didn't seem possible for  March.

Unfortunately, the weatherman was correct and we did see snow, ice and high winds today.  Fortunately, it arrived a lot later than predicted, so it didn't hinder Cameron from getting to school.  Doug had decided to work from home, so he didn't have to worry about driving in it either.  I appreciated that.  The rain started around noon with ice and sleet following shortly afterward.  The snow totals were not as high as predicted, but the wind was terrible.  Our power went on and off for several hours and the internet went out for a good portion of the evening before finally staying on at 9:30 p.m.  Doug and I both appreciated its return.

Cameron decided to wait out the storm in Goshen with his friends.  He said that the roads were really slippery when he went to the Ross-Richer's for dinner, but he was still able to navigate the short distance.  He, Samuel, Kaden and JJ all made it safely to the musical, Elephant & Piggy, at Bethany.  Alina was part of a trio in the performance and Cameron said that it was really good even though it was based on a children's book.  Since the weather was still precarious when the musical ended, Cameron stayed at Samuel's for the night where they planned to play Ping Pong and watch a horror movie called, "The Boy."  Fingers crossed that this will be our last winter storm until next winter.
