Cameron completely surprised us over the weekend when he announced that he had decided to play basketball again this year. He really did not seem to enjoy it last year and was more than ready for it to be over. At that point he told us that he did not have plans to play again and instead would focus on chess and tennis this winter. That seemed to change for him last week when he realized that all of his friends would be playing basketball and that they really wanted him to be a part of the team again. He also felt that soccer went well for him, Thus, changing his attitude towards winning and ability. He practiced tonight right after school and said that he had a lot of fun. I went to the parent meeting and talked to Troy just to make sure that Cam would still be able to go to the chess lesson on Tuesday afternoon. Troy agreed to that, so now we are on a mission to find new basketball shoes.
Meg started basketball as well tonight. She was very happy to be back on the court. It was a tough workout for her, but she didn't mind. She really likes her coaches and teammates. They couldn't scrimmage yet as volleyball was still in season after winning sectionals. That eliminated over half of their team from practice this week. Doug will attend the basketball meeting tomorrow night. Can't deny it any longer - a new season is upon us. Hope they both enjoy it.
