It's Hairspray!

Meg arrived this afternoon thankful to have a weeklong break from school.  She had had a tough week with several tests and papers due and was looking forward to some rest and relaxation.  She left Bloomington last night to visitNick and then arrived at home today just ahead of Cameron.    We were both glad to see her and enjoyed catching up.  Grandma and Grandpa stopped by for a little while too.

Tonight, Meg and I had tickets to see Hairspray on Broadway at the Morris Civic Theater in South Bend.  She had been looking forward to watching it since she first heard that it was touring.  I was really glad that we arrived early as it was challenging to find parking.  It also gave us time to buy a snack and a few souvenirs.  Meg found the cutest shirt with one of our favorite songs on the front.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from the show.  Meg and I both really liked the movie.  It had an excellent cast and I was afraid that the live musical wouldn’t live up to our expectations.  Thankfully, I was completely wrong.  The Broadway production was excellent and we both loved it.  The most challenging part of the evening was stopping ourselves from singing loudly to our favorite songs.  Even though Doug and Cameron had to listen to “Welcome to the Sixties” more than they would have liked, they were both happy to hear that we really liked the musical.  It was the perfect way to start Meg’s spring break.
