Prom Dress Shopping & Chess Regionals

Doug and Cam left early this morning for the team chess regional in Goshen.  Cam and JJ were the only returning members of the 8th grade and under team as Kayden moved and Matthew went on to high school.  For being a new team with 6th and 7th grade members added, they did very well finishing 3rd overall and qualifying for the state tournament in March.  Cam went 2 and 1 on the day losing only to a very talented Goshen team.

While Doug and Cam were busy with chess, Meg and I went Prom dress shopping in Fort Wayne.  It took longer than last year as neither or us liked the dresses at Penney's this year and that was our first stop after lunch at Chick-Fil-A.  We did, however, find several at Macy's that looked great on Meg.  In the end she picked a light pink one that we both thought was beautiful.  We went to the counter to order it in her size, but the sales associate helped us locate the one that they had in the store.  We appreciated her help as there were hundreds of dresses to sort through.  It took a little while to find a pair of shoes, but the ones Meg did get looked perfect with her dress.  We even got her a new pair of earrings and kept it all within our budget.  Both of us were exhausted by the end of our excursion, but we did have enough energy to check out a few more stores before heading home.

This evening Cam, Doug, my parents and I all played Oh Hell.  Afterward Cam wanted everyone to try Ticket to Ride.  The game was a lot of fun and has quickly become one of our favorites.  Nick came over for a little while.  He and Meg went to Panera for dinner and then watched Lion King 1 and 1/2.  He had never seen it and they both had fun watching it.  Her mouth was still hurting, but was better.  Hopefully, it will soon be completely healed.
