Before Cameron and I left for Bloomington this afternoon, we helped Doug get all of the furniture ready to take to Brett's tomorrow. Doug had rented a U-Haul for two days so that he could get Brett's items to him and bring Meg's furniture back on Tuesday. Brett was adding the bed frame and dresser that had been in the Heinisch family for over a hundred years, passed through the Carl Heinisch lineage. Cameron was the one using it recently, but wouldn't need it once he left for college. Brett was also gaining my queen bed set. He had thrown away the sleigh bed when he got new carpet months ago. He was definitely ready for a bed that didn't fall apart so easily. Although he was excited about the bedroom furniture, Brett was happiest to be receiving the multi-colored wing chair from our living room. He had absolutely worn out the green/brown one that we had given him years ago. In fact it had gotten so bad that it looked as though the chair had eaten him every time he sat down.
Cameron and I arrived in Bloomington at 6 p.m. tonight. The rain had slowed us down quite a bit, but Cameron handled the stressful drive very well. We had hoped to bring Brett the chair, but unfortunately it wouldn't fit in the Pilot. Instead we brought the mirror to the dresser, not as exciting, but it did arrive safely. After unloading the car, Brett, Cameron and I headed to Mother Bear's for dinner. It was a great way to start Cameron's orientation trip.
Meg met us at Brett's apartment after dinner. She had spent her day packing her apartment. It wasn't a lot of fun, but an unfortunate necessity of moving. She was definitely sad about leaving Bloomington. I couldn't blame her for that. While Meg was over, she and Brett gave Cameron their opinions on orientation and the best ways to navigate the two day event. He was nervous as he listened, but felt that he could handle it. We ended the night with a rousing game of Pass the Pigs which helped everyone to unwind and gave Brett a chance to wear his "comfy church clothes."
