Last Day of Junior Year

At 3:30 this afternoon Cameron officially became a senior in high school.  Even though this was the actual end of the school year, it really ended for his class last Friday.  This week had been one of reflecting, gathering and grief.  Assignments were cancelled and letter grades stood where they were on the 20th.  For Cameron that meant another semester of all A's.  We were proud of him for his academic achievement and for making it through one of the toughest weeks of his young life.

Thankfully, Cameron had an evening full of plans to keep him busy.  His class gathered at the home of a classmates for a year end party.  Afterward, he went to Matthew's open house.  He and his friend group then spent the rest of the evening at Signature Lanes.  Riki was scheduled to leave for Paraguay tomorrow and they wanted to celebrate.  Cameron arrived home late.  He had had a lot of fun, but was extremely sad.  Riki, Richard and Cameron had spent a lot of time together this past semester.  It was always going to be hard for him to say goodbye to Riki, but Richard's death made it even more difficult.  I felt terrible for him, but knew that nothing that I could say would make it easier.  All I could do was pray for him and hope that a summer of golf and tennis would help to fill the void.
