NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame

This morning, Doug, Cameron and I drove to Canton, Ohio to visit the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame.  It seemed a fitting destination for Cameron's spring break trip as he has been a fan of the NFL for quite some time.  I was very happy that he chose The Hall as one of his stops as I could remember Doug telling me when we were first married that he really wanted to visit all three sports hall of fames in his lifetime.  This was the final one needed to check that off of his wishlist.

Our visit started in a circular area of the hall of fame where we read about the history of the NFL.  There was so much to learn, things that we had never known about the start of the professional league.  There were definitely teams that we had never heard of before today.  We also didn't realize that the Hall is in Canton because the idea of the NFL was started in a dealership there.   I was surprised by how many of the first players gave up their careers early to do something else.  Cameron found the original scoring system where a field goal was more than touchdown very interesting.

The second floor was filled with busts of all of the NFL players inducted into the Hall of Fame.  It was amazing to think that out of the 27,000 coaches and players only a little over 300 had been enshrined.  Doug was pleased to learn that the Bears had more players in The Hall than any other team.  Cameron was also happy to at least see a few Lions players there as well.  The end of our tour took us to a locker room where we heard from a hologram "Joe Namath" an an exhibit on each of the Super Bowl rings made.  Cameron went home with a  Lions shirt and I enjoyed the pictures of the three of us that I purchased from the gift shop.
