Silver Springs & More

We left this morning at 9:30 for Silver Springs State Park.  My parents had not visited it since I was a preschooler and Cameron really wanted them to ride the glass bottom boats.  The park was a lot more crowded than I thought it would be for a Monday morning, but we were still able to do everything that we wanted to including walking along the boardwalk by the river and taking a tour of the springs on the glass bottom boats.  Grandma and Grandpa were impressed with the clarity of the water and loved seeing all of the animals.  For the first time since I had visited the park a year ago, we finally saw an alligator.  It was about six foot long and looked a little scary to me.  We loved our tour guide.  He was really funny and gave us quite a bit of information on the springs, the park and all of the movies that shot part or all of their films in the area.

We let Cameron pick our lunch spot.  He wanted to try Lee's Famous Chicken.  It was delicious.  Afterward Grandpa and Cameron played eighteen holes of golf at the Ocala Golf Club.  Grandma and I ran Doug a pop since he didn't get to eat lunch with us and then we went to Walmart for a few items.  After resting, we picked Doug up from work on our way to get Cameron and Grandpa.  They had just finished as we arrived and had some great stories to share which ended in them tying on today's round.

We all ate dinner on the square in downtown Ocala at the Brick City Southern Kitchen.  The food was fantastic and everyone enjoyed their meals, especially Grandpa with his banana pudding.  We spent the rest of the evening playing Oh Hell and watching the men's championship basketball game.  I tried to make it up until the end, but was exhausted by halftime.  It was a a great day in Ocala.
