There was potential for strong storms today, so Cameron and Grandpa Cutes decided to play golf earlier than they had planned. Mom and I dropped them off at 9:30 a.m. at Sumerglen where they hoped to at least play nine holes. While they were golfing, Doug, Grandma and I caught up with our friend, Cheryl. It was nice to see her and find out what was happening in Ocala since we had last visited.
As we were talking we realized that storm clouds were traveling in from the west. Grandma and I jumped back in the car with the hope of getting to the golf course before the predicted storm hit. The guys were just finishing up the ninth hole when we pulled into the parking lot. The clouds looked like there were traveling north by that time. Grandpa and Cameron talked about playing the back nine, but the woman in the clubhouse talked them into postponing their plans as the radar looked pretty threatening.
Cameron and I then decided that we would take them to the Florida Citrus Center instead. Grandma loved looking at all of the souvenirs, Grandpa thought it was too expensive and Cameron bought a shark's tooth out of a gum ball machine. It was a lot of fun. We were then only ten minutes up the road when the winds began, the clouds opened up and lightening hit. We gave up the idea of more golf and instead waited out the storm with lunch at 5Guys. I hadn't been there since our trip to the Final Four in Houston six years ago.
The rest of the day was spent indoors playing Oh Hell and watching the Final Four. None of us minded. The weather in Syracuse was in the forties. Even with a storm, Ocala's temperature was quite a bit better. Overall, it was a fun day and a great way to spend a rainy Florida day.
