Metal mouth, shark boy . . . Cam's already heard them all thanks to his siblings. Thus, he will be more than prepared for the ribbing he will get from his friends while sporting his brand new braces this fall. In fact that along with new glasses this summer, Cam thought that maybe no one would recognize him at Bethany.
All kidding aside, however, I realize that it wasn't the most exciting day for Cam, but he is one step closer to the straight teeth that he would prefer. The appointment took longer than I thought it would, but the two hours went by fairly quickly. He does have to return twice this fall - once to remove his expander and the second one to pull a baby tooth that refuses to come out. The overall process should take about a year and a half, but Cam seemed alright with that. For now his mouth hurt enough today that his diet consisted of mashed potatoes and ice cream. That should subside in about three days. Then he will just have to get used to the bite guard behind his front teeth. Time will pass soon enough and all of this will be a memory. Until then we'll keep the freezer stalked with ice cream and the new nicknames flowing.
