Tonight, we took Cal to Elevation 89, the restaurant at the Ocala airport. I had only eaten at it once before, but Doug had been there multiple times when he worked at Champion. I wasn't quite sure what to expect as when we were there last summer, the waiter we had was very interesting. He even laughed at Doug when he asked for a refill of his Diet Coke and told Cameron to order something else when he picked coleslaw as his side without any explanation. Our experience this evening was completely different. First, the place was absolutely packed. Second, our waiter was beyond nice and stopped by our table multiple times. Cal really enjoyed the atmosphere and his chef salad.
Another difference tonight was that Phil joined us for dinner. Cal had been waiting to see him as he had a few questions for him. The first one was, "What is your favorite album?" Doug and I weren't surprised at all when he said Guns N Roses Appetite for Destruction. The next question wasn't quite as easy to guess as Cal asked him what his favorite Chicago movie was. Doug had already answered Blues Brothers, and I had picked The Untouchables. Phil liked all of those, but after giving it some thought went with Ferris Bueller. Cal could agree with that one but looked forward to watching the Blues Brothers soon so he could compare the movies.
The last question probably took up most of our conversation this evening as Cal asked Phil if he watched SNL when he was younger and who he liked from the show at the time. After listing a lot of good contenders including Phil Hartman and Dennis Miller, Phil finally chose Dana Carvey. Cal followed up with his, Chris Farley while Doug and I both picking Eddie Murphy. No matter who we all chose as our favorites tonight, it made for some fun conversation, and we enjoyed our dinner very much.
